An integrated e-commerce and ticketing web application supporting real-time event booking and local payment methods.
Event organizers in Nigeria face friction when using international ticketing platforms like Eventbrite, which do not natively support local payment methods (such as bank transfers or local cards) and charge high commission fees. Additionally, managing attendee databases in separate software causes synchronization issues. The client needed an owned, secure, and automated portal to sell tickets, process payments locally, and generate registrations.
The Solution
We built an integrated e-commerce and ticketing application on WordPress. We utilized WooCommerce for the transaction engine, The Events Calendar for event scheduling, and Event Tickets Plus for ticket generation. We integrated the Paystack gateway to accept Naira payments. Attendees fill custom checkout fields to specify names and contact details per ticket, which are validated instantly during the Paystack Naira transaction.

Local Naira Checkout & High-Concurrency Ticket Holds
To avoid high third-party commissions, we engineered a dedicated ticketing channel combining WooCommerce with Event Tickets Plus. Naira payments are verified instantly via Paystack webhooks, releasing PDF tickets with QR codes to the attendee. We implemented object caching to protect the database against ticket booking locks under high traffic.
